Today we harvested our first respectable crop of grapes. Our three vines are now four years old and have reached the beginning of many years of abundant fruit bearing years.
For the past two weeks we have been nibbling on our grapes. We pondered on what we would do with them once picked; jams, frozen poppers, perhaps a fine vintage?
This year we will be making grape jam with most of the harvest. We will also freeze five large bunches with stems and store them in a ziplock. Our family loves frozen grape poppers to snack on for months after the harvest.
Next year, if our grape crop is larger, I just might devote most of the harvest to making wine.
Now that is a pleasant thought to help get me through the upcoming winter. – Jabbear
